why hire a doula?
Birth is an incredible journey. It is a becoming, not only for the baby, but also for the parents. The presence of continuous labor support eases this transition into parenthood.
A birth doula is a labor support person who assist expectant parents in preparing for birth and postpartum and helping them feel confident and safe about their birthing process. A doula provides emotional and physical support during labor and birth, such as massage, suggesting positions, coaching breath, and holding space. A birth doula also cares for the birthing parent's partner and other support people, and helps them support the birthing parent. Postpartum, your doula will assist you in newborn care, breastfeeding, and building your confidence as a parents. A birth doula does not provide clinical care, but plays a complimentary role as a person knowledgeable about birth - and about your wishes - who is there only to support you.
